DOCUMENTATION

Arp - The Immortal Dada

Hans Arp, with Hugo Ball, Tristan Tzara and Max Ernst, was co-founder of the rebellious childlike Dada movement. As a surrealist, word artist and painter, Arp belongs among the pioneers of modernity. His art of biomorphic and organic round forms is as succinct as it is multi-faceted. Arp’s immaculate sense of wit and lightness, for openness and change, mark his oeuvre. In this documentation Ronald Granz not only visits Arp’s work domains in Strasbourg and Grasse, but also his widow Marguerite Arp-Hagenbach in Locarno. This outstanding documentation offers a fresh approach to the person and works of Hans Arp, and shows an artist’s longing to return to his childhood. Broadcasted at ARD and SWR3.

AUDIO DRAMA

The Parmesan Gang

A band of New York kids starts out solving problems with wit and quick-wittedness. A mysterious object, the first artificial Parmesan cheese in the world, lends this unique story its fantastic element, and accidentally this invention leads to new troubles for the kids. Enrico, a small Sicilian is hindered by language barriers and conduct, to get accepted into a kids gang, which hounds are New York's poor district, the Lower East Side. Finally, the encounter with the unlucky researcher Sambrini changes the story in favour of Enrico. Years of research have lead Sambrini to the discovery of the first artificial Parmesan cheese, which has a wonderful side effect: for a short time a person obtains the knowledge and skills of future generations, and the ability of the „wander-voice“, which lets the user project their voice to other places. With the cheeses’ help, Enrico and his new gang experience many adventures, in school, at a TV station or even at a wedding. Of course, these new and wonderful abilities of theirs don’t stay hidden for long, and soon real gangsters appear on the scene in order to steal their cheesy treasure. „The Parmesan Gang“ picks on day to day grown-up and media clichés, and turns them upside down. At the same time, the story feeds every child's and young-adult’s need for the fantastic and the irrational. The stamping ground of these street kids, the poor districts of New York, as the melting pot of this grand city, mirrors the children's gang "melting" problems. But one thing children here and there have in common, they have the same yearning and dreams, listeners and protagonists alike. A radio drama serial for children from the age of 10 up.
